Hoodia: A Natural appetite suppressant for WEIGHT CONTROL?
The Hoodia gordonii is the only Hoodia cactus that produces
a substance similar to glucose, but much more powerful.
Having a plantation can be a great business, but its requirements
are a bit hard to fulfill: first, you have to get some
Hoodia seeds. Next, you will need temperatures of about
50 degrees Celsius. And add to that the 4 to 6 years that
the Hoodia gordonii cactus requires to mature. And, there
you have it…Your own Hoodia plantation. Indeed, the Hoodia
gordonii plant is one of the most difficult plants to
grow. But, in the real life, everything good is difficult
to get. Actually, considering what it went through before
it was finally discovered, it is indeed a miracle. After
it was discovered in 1937, by a Dutch anthropologist,
the Hoodia plant (or Xhoba as the San tribe calls it)
sat for another three decades in a lab, waiting to be
analyzed. Finally, the Council for Scientific and Industrial
Research (CSIR) scientists came to it. They discovered
in the Hoodia cactus an unknown molecule, that they named
P57. They tested the Hoodia seed, as well as the pure
hoodia powder and they noticed (beside a lost of appetite),
effects similar to caffeine; and all these with the cost
of no side effects. The patent for the hoodia gordonii
plant P57 molecule was sold in 1997 to Phytopharm - an
UK pharmaceutical company. After only a few years, the
hoodia diet pill was released on the market. Ever since
then, Hoodia has been a huge success and it is renowned
for its 'no side effects'. Thanks to the hoodia gordonii
plant, over weight people have a reduced appetite. Still,
even if they eat less, they can get fat, or maintain their
weight. That's because of all the bad food that they are
eating. A Hoodia diet also means eating healthy food.
